Philip Harvey Davis (1908-1992), a native of Ohio and graduate of Miami University, began teaching technical writing and business correspondence at North Carolina State in 1939. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Davis was an associate professor of English at North Carolina State from 1951 until his retirement in 1973.
