William W. Plumb was born in New York in 1809. He was a pioneer in Washington Territory, settling near Olympia in 1852. He served as a private in the United States Army, 2nd Infantry Regiment, during the Indian war in Washington Territory, 1855-1856, and he was appointed first justice of the peace at Olympia. Plumb died in Centralia, Washington, in 1898.
