Clark Berry Stewart (1813-1890), was a student, soldier in the Seminole war, school master, agricultural experimenter, Presbyterian clergyman, and Confederate chaplain. Stewart was born in Laurens County, S.C. and, except for 1824-ca. 1830 when he lived in Gwinnett County, Georgia, resided in Greenville County, S. C. He married Katherine C. Hitch. Stewart wrote for the Southern cultivator under the nom-de-plume "The late beginner."
James Lewis Stoddard, son of Elizabeth Owings and William Stoddard, married Margaret Amanda Stewart.
