Mrs. Marlene Melvin was born November 17, 1939 in Foley, Alabama. Her father was a minister. She entered teaching because she always loved children. She attended Columbus College, majored in political science and minored in history and psychology. She was very active in extracurricular activities, including working on the constitution, building a float for the city Christmas parade, playing basketball and soccer, writing a motto for the college, and going to meetings and discussions about the mascot and the school colors.
