Lawton, Esther C. (Esther Christian), 1910-1998
Variant namesEsther C. Lawton worked for various U.S. governmental agencies as a position classification analyst. An early believer in the women's movement, Ms. Lawton served on a Treasury Department committee established in 1962 to discover the extent of discrimination against women within the department. Concurrent to her career in the Treasury Department were over 25 years of teaching at George Washington University. Throughout her career, Esther Lawton was a champion of women's rights and fair criteria for advancement and promotion.
