The University Honors College was established at Oregon State University in 1995 and is a degree-granting college that awards the Honors Baccalaureate Degree in any undergraduate major. The first cohort of Honors College students graduated in June 1997. Jon (Joe) Hendricks served as the founding Dean of the University Honors College from 1995 until early 2008. Dan Arp was appointed Dean in May 2008. An earlier campus-wide Honors Program was active from the mid-1960s until 1991, when it was terminated due to budget constraints.
