Manning, Ambrose N.
Professor of English at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn., until his retirement in 1983. Studied and collected Appalachian folklore and folksongs. In 1970, helped organize the Appalachian Consortium, "a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Southern Appalachia."
