Jewett family.
The Jewett family of South Berwick, Maine had extensive shipping and mercantile interests. Theodore F. Jewett (1787-ca. 1860) was a ship captain and merchant. His son Theodore H. Jewett was a physician and the father of the author Sarah Orne Jewett.
