John H. Alexander was born in 1920. He belonged to the California Cadets at Porterville, CA High School and was selected for the Citizens' Military Training Camp held at Camp John P. Pryor, Presidio, San Francisco from 5 July to 4 August 1936. He enlisted in the Navy in 1940 and was assigned to the USS Northampton until it was sunk and then to the USS California as a Gunner's Mate Third Class. Upon discharge around 1946, he enlisted in the Army Reserve as a sergeant, was called up for the Korean War, and was discharged in 1952. He then joined the Navy Reserve and served until the mid 1970's. He died in 1998.
