Variant namesCampaigner for the rights and advancement of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders, Joe McGinness's extensive involvement included being founding secretary of the Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders Advancement League (Cairns) in 1958, and a 17-year term as President of the Federal Council for the Advancement of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders.
