Asa Bertram Lemon was born on September 3, 1889 in Hartford, Ontario. He received his Ph.G. degree from the University of Buffalo in 1913 and his Pharmacy degree from Brooklyn College in 1915. At the University of Buffalo he was appointed an assistant in Materia Medica (Pharmacy) in 1916, instructor from 1917 to 1921, professor from 1921 to 1936, and Dean of the School of Pharmacy from 1936 to 1954. At the University he had a long and distinguished academic and professional career. He volunteered his services in many different activities ranging from the Student Activities Committee, the University Band, the Glee Club, the University Orchestra to the Alumni Club. He also served in numerous professional organizations, such as the New York State Board of Pharmacy, the United States Pharmacopoeia Revision Committee, and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. For his many services to the profession and to the University he received many honors including the Willis G. Gregory Memorial Medal, the Samuel P. Capen Alumni Award, a citation from the Student Activities Committee, a citation from the New York State Department of Education, Dean Emeritus, and a citation from the University of Buffalo for "outstanding contributions to the fields of Alumni Affairs and Pharmaceutical Education". He retired in 1960 and was named an "Illustrious Professor" by the University. Even during his retirement he continued being active. From 1960 to 1969 he served as Executive Secretary of the School of Pharmacy Alumni Association and in 1966 he was named "Honorary president" of the Galen Pharmaceutical Society of Buffalo. He died on February 3 1969 in Buffalo, N.Y.
