Robert Harry Edward Lauer was born in 1925 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. When he was four years old, his family moved to Haddon Township, New Jersey, where he attended grammar school and junior high school. He graduated from Collingswood High School in New Jersey in 1942. He married in 1946 and had two daughters and one son. Lauer served in the United States Navy until 1946 when he took a job with Lybrand, Ross Bros. & Montgomery. While at Lybrand, his clients included members of the Pew family and the Glenmede Trust Company. In 1959 he joined Glenmede as its third employee. He plans to retire from Glenmede in 1990. His is a Methodist. He became a certified public accountant in 1953.
