Jerdone family.
Francis Jerdone, born in Scotland, came to Virginia about 1750. A merchant in Louisa County, he built Jerdone Castle ca. 1752. He married Sarah Macon (1771-1813) of New Kent County. One of their sons, William, married into the Coleman family into whose hands the plantation passed.
Capt. Clayton G. Coleman and his wife Anna Breeden acquired Jerdone Castle in the 1850s.
