Miss Cornelia Shaw ws elected as Librarian and Registrar on May 28, 1907. Prior to 1907, registrar duties were handled by faculty. Although primarily responsible for the library, Shaw, served as registrar until 1921 when Frederick Hengeveld added the duties to his work as basketball and baseball coach. The office has undergone several changes, becoming fulltime in 1930 and including responsibilities for Admissions from 1940 to 1964. The Registrar oversees all aspects of course registration, classroom assignments, student academic records, and transcripts of Davidson academic records.
