David Lewis, 1916-1995

Hide Profile

Reverend A. David Lewis was a Presbyterian minister, who trained in Cambridge and held charges until the early 1960s, and again from 1967 until 1970. His interest in Karl Barth (1886 - 1968), theologian, led him to learn German in order to read, then translate his work. In the early 1960s he served as Information Secretary with the World Alliance of Reformed and Presbyterian Churches in Geneva, and from 1970 until 1976 as a translator with the World Council of Churches in Geneva. He continued to live in Geneva for some years as a freelance translator, before retiring to England, where he died in 1995.
