Jenkin, Fleeming
Jenkin was born in 1833. He was the first Professor of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, and a friend of Lord Kelvin. He was a designer of transoceanic cables, and was an innovator in evolutionary biology and economics as well as being a linguist, critic, actor, dramatist and artist. He died in 1885.
