Hide Profile

La Leche League (LLL) was formed in 1956 in Franklin Park, Illinois to provide breastfeeding help and support to interested women. Established locally by seven founding mothers, the organization quickly grew in scope and membership, and established an international presence in the 1960's and the 1970's. Although breastfeeding promotion was the main and primary goal of the organization, over the years LLL took positions on other related topics, such as natural, non-medicated birth processes, discipline, nutrition, fathering, feminism and working mothers. La Leche League publishes books and periodicals, organizes conferences, and provides breastfeeding consultation services, seminars and other educational services.
