Mudd, John January, 1820-1864.
Mudd enlisted as major of the 2nd Illinois Cavalry on September 23, 1861. Promoted to lieutenant colonel on December 31, 1862 and colonel on February 16, 1863, he was killed on May 3, 1864 during the Red River campaign.
