Stephen, George, 1829-1921
Variant namesGeorge Stephen was a Scots-Quebecker financier associated with the Bank of Montreal and the founder of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. He was the first Canadian to be granted a peerage by the British Crown. In 1891 he retired to England where he lived and died at Brocket Hall.
