Allen, Winnie, 1895-1985
Born in Henrietta, Texas on April 13, 1895 to W.T. and Ethel Youree Allen, Winnie Allen was an archivist and historian. In 1925, Allen became assistant archivist at the University of Texas archives; in 1936, she became archivist, a position in which she served for 35 years. Allen's major work was the collection and acquisition of Texas related materials. Allen died on August 1, 1985.
