Frances Marion (Fanny) Ralston was born on Jan. 7, 1875 in St. Louis, MO; studied at the New England Conservatory with Arthur Foote, Percy Goetschius, Fannie Payne, Nellie Strong Stevenson, Richard S. Poppen and Ernest R. Kroeger; also studied under Adolf Weidig in Chicago and under Carl Faelten in Boston; gave a recital of her own compositions at St. Louis in 1896; served as director of the music dept. at Central College, Lexington, MO for two years and of the Music School of Rockford College, IL for nine years; compositions include Sonata spirituel, Scotch idyll, Winter, Impressions at Wellesley, Song without words, and Three little waltzes; published Reflections of a musician (c1920); she died on Feb. 5, 1952 in Arcadia, CA.
