Meares, Seymour Goldsmith, 1817-1892.
Son of Richard Goldsmith Meares who arrived in WA on the "Gilmore" in 1829. Farmer and grazier at Murray, 1830s, then farmer and pastoralist at Sandgate, York WA. Thomas Peel who brought settlers to the new colony on the "Gilmore" was granted 250 000 acres of land at Cockburn Sound in 1829.
