Charles Cotton (1630-1667) was a poet, satirist, and translator of Triquet's Complete Gardiner and Montaigne's Essays who also contributed "The Second Part" to the 1676 edition of Isaak Walton's Complete Angler. "An Elegy upon the Death of....Lord Hastings" is his first published poem.
