Van Brunt family

Hide Profile

Although somewhat uncertain, the principals referenced in this document are likely as follows: Wilhemus Van Brunt (1723-1790), a farmer of New Utrecht; Col. Rutgert Van Brunt (1733-1812) of Gravesend, a farmer, county official at the time of this document, and a brother of Wilhemus; Rutgert W. Van Brunt (1757-1834) of New Utrecht, a son of Wilhemus. Wilhemus married Jannetje Van Voorhees in 1750. Her sister was Annatie, who married William B. Gifford, thereby relating the Giffords to Wilhemus by marriage. (See Teunis G. Bergen, Genealogy of the Van Brunt Family, 1653-1867, page 17-18, 17f, 41.)
