The City/County Government Committee was created in June 1994 and held its final meeting in May 1999. From a brochure published by Tesoro Technology Partners in 1994: "The City/County Government Committee was appointed by Bexar County Judge Cyndi Taylor Krier, San Antonio Mayor Nelson Wolff and City Councilman Howard Peak in June 1994. William Sinkin was named chairman. Committee members represent a broad cross-section of the community, including race/ethnicity, gender, political perspective and inner city/suburban residents. In order to keep the Committee independent, no elected officials of either the city or county government were appointed as members. Staff members of local government agencies are involved as 'resource' persons to assist individual task forces, but they are also excluded from the Committee's Executive Committee. The Committee receives no public funds. All of the expenses of the Committee are met by private sector funds. The purpose of the Committee is to study the existing structure of local government with Bexar County and to develop recommendations to improve that structure. The scope of the Committee's study includes the Bexar County government, the City of San Antonio, and all of the other local governments and independent agencies within the county.
