Frances Darling attended Radcliffe College (1914-1916) and was a classmate of poet and novelist Rachel Field. Darling served as children's librarian for the Chatham Square Branch of the New York Public Library, the Brookline Public Library, and the North End Branch of the Boston Public Library. In 1936 she opened the Bay Colony Bookshop in Boston. She was also a free-lance writer and visitor for the Widows' Society of Boston.
