Martha (Patty) Nichols (1746- ) was the daughter of Joseph Nichols ( -1752?) and Martha How Nichols ( - ) of Framingham, Mass. Following the death of her first husband, Martha How Nichols married the Rev. David Goddard (1706-1754) of Leicester, Mass. His nephew, Nathan Goddard (1746-1795), married Patty Nichols in 1772. Nathan's father, Benjamin Goddard (1704-1754), was one of the first settlers of Shrewsbury, Mass. The children of Nathan and Patty Nichols Goddard were: Nichols Goddard (1773- ), who married Charity White (1779- ) and settled in Rutland, Vt.; Grace Goddard (1775- ), who married Ephraim Drury (1768-1833) in 1801 and lived in Walpole, N.H., and Marlborough, Mass.; and Nathan Goddard (1777-1822), who married first, Prudence Hemenway (1781-1812) of Framingham, Mass., and second, Polly Bacon (1790- ) of Natick, Mass. Following the death of her first husband in 1795, Patty Nichols Goddard married Simon Goddard ( - ) of Gerry, Mass.
