The Fraternity of Odd Fellows was founded in Worcester, Mass. in 1820 or 1821. It apparently existed primarily for the purpose of operating a subscription library, and was unconnected with what was later known as the International Order of Odd Fellows, which instituted its first lodge in Worcester in 1844. The Fraternity's more active members included William Lincoln (1801-1843) and Christopher Columbus Baldwin (1800-1835). Librarians included Lincoln, Isaac Davis (1799-1883), and Edward J. Vose ( -1831).
In November 1829 the library was dissolved, and its books were placed in the library of the Worcester Lyceum of Natural History.
