The council, a federation of youth and student associations, coordinates youth activities, conducts research, promotes social justice for youth, and cooperates with youth organizations abroad. It is an affiliate of the National Assembly of National Voluntary Health and Social Welfare Organizations, the U.S. Young Adult Council, and the World Assembly of Youth. Voter registration of 18-year-olds and the improvement of libraries in Southern schools are among the projects discussed in the collection.
