Whitener, Rogers V., 1919-
Whitener worked as an English professor at Appalachian State University from 1959-1989. He specialized in 18th century literature and Milton. He also assisted with the development of the Appalachian Collection at Appalachian State University. "Folk-ways and folk-speech" appeared weekly in the Watauga Democrat from 1973 to 1991. Whitener encouraged readers to mail in stories to be included in his column.
