Raymond F. Baker (1906-1999 ) graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy in 1935. Seven years earlier, he had joined Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company. He headed the company's corn research department for more than 40 years until retirement in 1971. In 1965, he was named Fellow in the American Society of Agronomy and also in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Furthermore, he has been the Achievement Fund National Chairman since 1974. He has also been honored as Outstanding Contributor to Science by the American Society of Agronomy. He is also a lifetime member of the Memorial Union and the ISU Foundation Board of Governors.
