Historical note: The Cananea Copper Company was formed in 1896 by William C. Greene and three others. By 1899, Greene gained controlling interest and a reorganization in 1901 created the Cananea Consolidated Copper Company. In 1906, the Greene Cananea Copper Company was incorporated with control over the Greene Consoldiated Copper Company and the Cananea Central Copper Company. The principal mining operations were in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico.
