Clarence L. "Sonny" Hank was born on March 5, 1921 in Whitefield, Township, Marshall County, Ill. and enlisted in the Army on July 28, 1942 at Peoria, Ill. At the time of enlistment he was single, had completed a year of high school and working in an industrial chemicals production plant. Hank joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Headquarters Company and the Battalion Medical Detachment of the 126th Mountain Engineer Battalion. He also served at Camp Swift, Tex. and in Italy. Hank died on January 14, 1997 in Henry, Ill.
