Bailey, Eugene, 1913-1942.
African American from Cleveland, Ohio who attended Virginia State College for Negroes, excelling in athletics. Bailey became physical education director at Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Va. and then enlisted in the Navy at the start of World War II. In 1942, he was killed in an explosion at the Norfolk Navy Yard.
