Swift, Dixie.
Dixie Swift was born and raised in Long Beach, California and graduated from Whittier College. In 1980, she opened Shakti, the first contemorary art gallery in Long Beach. She also founded Homeland, a cultural center in Long Beach that provided an artistic outlet for at-risk youth.
