Lane, Kate Meade, 1878-1968.
Kate and Lidie Lane were daughters of James H. Lane, a Confederate brigadier general and, from 1882 to 1907, engineering professor at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama, later Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Kate earned a B.S. degree from Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1899 and an M.S. in 1900, and taught school in Auburn, Alabama.
