Jeffrey Gordon Jones was born 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a bachelor's degree (1979) in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology; a masters's degree (1986) in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Arlington, and bachelor's and master's degrees (1993; 1995) in history from Georgia State University. In August 1995 he began to work on a Master of Divinity degree at Emory University. Jones has worked as a software engineer and a research scientist (1979-1992) and as a part-time instructor in the History Department at Georgia State University (September 1995-March 1996). Jones was active in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta where he served as a lay minister. He also served as the Emotional Fitness Coordinator (1992-1995) for Shallowford Garden Apartments in Atlanta, Georgia where he enabled residents to care for their emotional needs through the establishment of a bilingual newsletter, social activities, money management counseling, etc. Jones is currently a practicing minister in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is married to Carol Louise Buffum, an attorney and mediator.
