Third Parish of Dedham, Mass., authorized by Mass. legislature 1730; also known as Clapboard Trees Parish or West Parish and area became known as West Dedham village; during the 1814-1852 ministry of Rev. John White, the Puritan parish became Unitarian and was known as Unitarian Church (or Unitarian Parish) of West Dedham; West Dedham incorporated as town of Westwood in 1897 and in 1899 parish name changed to First Parish of Westwood (also found: First Parish Church); currently affiliated with United Church of Christ.
