Susan Barbar Tallmon (1872-1950) was born in Iowa on 15 December 1872 to George Washington and Susan Carhart Tallmon. She was educated at Grinnell College and received an M.D. from Northwestern University Women's Medical School in 1902. She was a physician and medical missionary to Lintsing, China from 1905 to 1918. She married Rev. Benjamin Farrington Sargent in 1916. After returning from China, the couple lived in Berkeley, California. She died on 21 February 1950.
