Herman Böÿe, was a naturalized Danish engineer and mapmaker, author the 1828 General Map of the State of Virginia.

Born in Denmark in 1792, Herman Boye came to the United States in 1916, worked with John Wood on the surveying of Virginia's counties, took over the project when Wood died in 1822; and constructed the 1827 State mapof Virginia from the previous surveys. He later was an engineer on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and lived in Maryland. He died in 1830.
