Smith, Albert E (Albert Eugene) 1907-

In 1948 Smith joined the Office of Naval Research as a mathematician, and later became head of the Computer Systems and Applications Branch of Naval Ship Systems Command. He edited the Digital Computer Newsletter form 1949 until 1954, and served on the Conference on Data Systems Languages executive committee from 1959 to 1960. He was involved in producing a number of early surveys of computer equipment for the Navy.
