The photographs were taken by Joseph V. Brazie during a may 18-26, 1974 Grand Canyon river trip and history workshop with river company Grand Canyon Expeditions. The featured speaker was river historian Otis "Dock" Marston. In addition, Grand Canyon photographer and explorer Emery Kolb accompanied a portion of the trip, from the Little Colorado River to Tuna Creek Rapid. Kolb, who first ran the Colorado River with his older brother, Ellsworth, in 1911, was 93 years old. The 1974 trip proved to be his last, as he passed away two years later.
