Hoback, Thomas

Thomas Hoback is a native of Peoria, Illinois. He graduated from Golden Gate University in San Francisco with a degree in transportaion and economics. In 1986 he founded the Indiana Railroad Company, an Indianapolis-based regional railroad serving south central Indiana and eastern Illinois. He is also the owner, president, and CFO of Central Midland Railway, a freight railroad serving the St. Louis region. He is a board member of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society and serves on the editorial advisory board for Railroad History, a scholarly journal on railways. Hoback was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Indiana Historical Society in 2002. He is a co-founder of the Midwest Railroad Research Center at I.H.S. and serves on the society's executive and collections committees.
