William Kuecks Beichler was from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He studied farm forestry at Penn State and his degree was conferred with second honors on June 15, 1925. He later held posts with the United States Forest Service in Maryland and Idaho, and then came to North Carolina as a district forester in 1941. He was named chief of North Carolina's forest service in 1945 and served until he retired in 1951.
