Harper, V. L. (Verne Lester), 1902-1997
Variant namesVerne Lester Harper was born August 13, 1902 in Monroe, South Dakota. He moved to Florida in 1927 to take employment as a forestry research scientist with the U.S. Forest Service at Starke and Lake City (1927-1935).He served as Deputy Chief for Research with the U.S. Forest Service from 1951-1966. He became a professor of forestry with the University of Florida in 1966 and retired in 1972 with emeritus status. He died in 1997.
