Leslie Pettitt Hardy (1902-1992) was born in Summit County, Ohio. He attended Kent State College between 1922 and 1928, with periods off during which he worked as a teacher and coach at area schools. While at Kent, Hardy was active in athletics, lettering in basketball, track, and baseball. He served on the staff of both The Kentonian and The Kent Stater and was a Kappa Mu Kappa fraternity member. Hardy also served as president of his graduating class. Hardy went on to an administrative career at the University of Akron, where he worked for 40 years. He was an active member of many area civic and fraternal organizations throughout his life. He served as chairman of KSU's 50th Anniversary Reunion Committee in 1978 and was inducted into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981.
