Frances D. Huntington was born on Dec. 21, 1902, the eldest of four children born to George D. and Mary L. (Treadwell) Huntington. She attended Miss Liggett's School in Detroit, a finishing school in Calif., and Smith College, from which she graduated in 1926. After her Father died in 1945, Frances operated his business as the F.D. Huntington Co., of Detroit. She sold small carbides, gauges, and diamond-tipped grinding tools for industry. Frances was active socially and professionally, helping found the American Society for Quality Control, Inc.-Greater Detroit Section and the Society of Women Engineers-Detroit Chapter. She was respected nationally as a grower and cross-breeder of lillies. Frances was also an active member of the Michigan Nature Association and a dog lover. From 1962 through part of 1970, she was married to Miodrag Dmitrievich, a Serbian. The keystone in her family, Frances supported several nieces and nephews and extended Serbian relatives in times of trouble. Frances died on May 16, 1991. Her siblings and parents preceeded her in death. A memorial service was held for her at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church. [This information is from the collection.
