Born in Portney Banffehire, Scotland, Jan. 2, 1814; came to Montreal; enlisted in Fifth U.S. Regt. and was assigned to Ft. Howard; appointed adjutant general by Austin Blair; was in commission business in Detroit with C.A. Trowbridge; for short time worked for U.S.in Mexico. Died in Detroit, 1887. He was twice married.
