Julius Walter Atwood, Episcopal Bishop of Arizona, was born in Salisbury, Vermont. As a young clergyman in New England his first church was in Ipswich, Massachusetts and his second was St. James, in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Middlebury College and from the Cambridge Theological School.
