Leven Cooper Allen (1894-1979) born Fort Douglas, Utah, and commissioned into the infantry November 1916. A 1931 graduate of the Command and General Staff School and a 1935 graduate of the Army War College, he served the war plans division of the War Department General Staff from May 1941 to February 1942. He made brigadier general in January, and rose to major general in September 1942. He served as chief of staff of First Army Group, renamed 12th army Group, 1943-1945. After receiving two Distinguished Service medals, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Purple Heart, he retired in 1951.
